Creating a home automation system that could be accessed with any internet capable device.

Everything can be accessed via my local network. As long as you are connected to my network you can access lights throughout the house.

The system can be configured so it can be accessed away from home. I do not have mine configured this way because it potentially poses security issues, especially with my garage door being attached to this system.

I made a IR trigger using the Arduino, but never got around to converting the circuit into a proper pcb. Here is the block diagram of that circuit:

And here is the setup that I built using a magic arm :D

In the image, you can see the IR detector pair fixed on the magic arm and connected to the Arduino board. When the water drop passes through the small U shaped bracket holding the IR pair, the circuit gets triggered and fires the flash (Nikon SB800).

And here is the result of this experiment:
