Design For Small Spaces: A Folding Furniture Roundup

Small space living is an art, and designers worldwide have risen to the challenge of making furniture suitable to the tiny homes most city dwellers live in. We're seeing more and more foldable furniture these days, attractive to those living in small spaces because of the ease with which they can be tucked away, so we decided to do a roundup of some of our favorite pieces.

- Robert Van Embricqs'"Rising" chairs and tables: Innovative and sharp, beautifully designed. (Photos via Apartment Therapy)

- Ikea's "Brommo" deck chair: Impressive, as far as affordable, mass-produced design goes.

- Alexander Brink + Antti Pulli's "Yksi" chair: Made from a single sheet of cardboard, consider this an awesome work of furniture origami. (Photo via DesignBoom.)

- Christian Desile's folding chair: Best in the easy-to-hide-away category. Look how thin it is when folded! Made with bamboo and recycled synthetic polymer. (Photo via Fast Company.)

- Whit McLeod's wine-barrel chair: Clever design at an affordable price. What a great way to reuse a material most people would toss in the trash. (Photo via This Old House.)
