Industrial designer Igor Chak, who is based in L.A. but was raised in Russia and Japan, channeled his love of vintage video games into his artistic practice. His game-inspired pieces of furniture are clever and incredibly well designed.
Chak's design philosophy: "I believe in a well developed, elegant design that has a story, with history and passion to it. A design that is simple, clean and user friendly."
His space-Invader-inspired sofa, which he described as "an old friend that kept trying to take over Earth but retired and became a couch," is hand-made in L.A.
His Donkey Kong shelving uses light carbon fiber, anodized aluminum pixels joined with strong stainless steel rods and toughened glass tops.
